More than 40 people are added to Iran’s AIDS patient list every day

Iran Press News: The Amir Kabir university newsletter announced that the director of the joint programs of the United Nations’ AIDS research has reported that more than 40 people a day are added to Iran’s AIDS patient list.

During a meeting of the joint agencies of the United Nations based in Iran Dr.
Hamid-Reza Setayesh added that in the past year AIDS in Iran, has doubled and at present the only action that is being planned is what is said to be a top priority strategy for fighting AIDS.

Referring to the statistics from the Islamic regime’s national committee on AIDS and the ministry of health, the number of those infected with the disease in Iran is approximately 60 to 70 thousand, though at the rapid rate that the disease has begun to spread, Dr. Setayesh estimated the correct number to be closer to 140,000 people.

In response to the recent claims made by minister of health who claimed that AIDS is not among the top priorities in Iran, Dr. Setayesh stated: “Though this disease is not considered a public disease, it has increased among groups like injection drug addicts and a lack of attention to this issue, can have the country facing a disasterous epidemic.”
