2006 Tuesday 12 DecemberThe Islamic regime’s inhumane treatment of AfghanisThe campaign to support Afghan immigrants in Iran Iran Press News: A young Afghan writes of the pain and hardship they endure: “Hello, I am a young Afghan. I want you to convey to you the troubles that Afghans in Iran have to endure. Wherever we go we hear how Afghanis have taken our jobs away from us. I am 21-year-old and now after 20 years of life in Iran I still have no right to anything. This means abjection - it means utter death. We Afghans have never yet received any support. Every year the government of Iran with some excuse or other extorts huge and backbreaking sums of money from us and yet in return they don’t even give us work permits. We have been expelled from schools and now they are even refusing the identity cards that their own immigration bureau issued to us. We beg of you to hear our pleas and come to our aid. Why should I, who has lived in this country for 20 years and grown up here not have the same rights as others, after all wasn’t it Afghani [construction workers] who helped build up Tehran? On November 30th, approximately 150 people were arrested only because they are Afghani. I know that every government has its corrupt and evil individuals but the man in charge of dealing with the issues of immigrants, Mr. Hosseini treats Afghanis like a dogs and has no regard for the 25-year background of Afghani drudgery in Iran. Tehran’s municipality couldn’t endure working with Iranian construction workers for a single week and ran back to employing Afghans! I beg you to save us; we are under the most horrific pressures here, both from the government and the people. Please don’t believe the lies told by the Islamic regime about the Afghanis…they are utter fabrications. I am proud of being Afghani.” |
