Shahrzadnews:Under orders from the most fundamentalist elements of the regime, the Iranian vice squad and religious police are patrolling the mountains and valleys, arresting female hikers who ignore hejab regulations. Women of the Basij militia provide back-up.
According to the ISNA news agency, Greater Tehran Police commander Hussein Sajedinia says members of his force have been stationed in 1800 nature areas in and around the capital: “…monitoring them and keeping them safe. With the hot summer weather upon us, officers will – from early evening to late in the night – be very much in evidence in parks, on the hills, and in other rural areas. Bad-hejabi women and other inappropriately-dressed young people will be confronted, especially in popular places such as Touchal, Darband and Darake.”
