Shahrzadnews - An Iranian website is offering the equivalent of between sixty and a hundred euros to women prepared to engage in a ‘temporary’ marriage lasting just one hour. Men who visit the site can choose their potential brides from a list of ten profiles. According to the Jame Jam news website, these give details of the woman’s age, height, weight, place of residence, and health records. They state whether she has been married before, whether she has undergone the menopause, whether she is divorced, plus the dowry required for one full hour of temporary marriage.
Temporary marriage or Islamic Sigha is regarded by many as a legalisation of prostitution by the Islamic regime. The debate about it is not confined to Iranians, and last week the German magazine Der Spiegel ran an article on the subject under the heading “For better sex, go to Iran and get a Sigha.”
