2006 Thursday 02 NovemberPolitical prisoner, Kianoosh Sanjari’s mother speaks of her son’s predicamentIran Press News: On Sunday, October 30th, the campaign for the release of activist and blogger Kianoosh Sanjari from prison wrote: Once again, in a cold and rainy Tehran afternoon, Kianoosh Sanjari’s mother made her way to Evin prison to visit her son; abominably the prison officials announced that her son is forbidden from receiving visitors. Kianoosh’s mother who is in dispair over her son’s imprisonment tells the director of Kianoosh’s freedom campaign that it will suffice for her to even see her son from a distance. She says that this is by no means the first time that Kianoosh has been detained in the infamous ward 209 of Evin prison. She asks: “Why is it though they they won’t let me visit with my son, like they used to in the past?” Kianoosh’s mother is not willing to be interviewed by the media for fear of it worsening her son’s situation. She explains: “Last time, without any warning, the regime’s agents kicked the door of their house down and came in to arrest my son; they detained him for 111 days in solitary confinement. That time I did give interviews and spoke with the media but then I got a call from the authorities who told me that because I spoke out, they wouldn’t let my son go.” |
