Rafsanjani threatens the Security Council not to tempt fate

Iran Press News: During the October 20th Friday prayers in Tehran, Mullah Hashemi-Rafsanjani cited the United Nations security council’s resolution against the Islamic Republic and said: "I warn the Security Council not to tempt fate around the world or this region anytime soon."

The regime-run news agency ISKA NEWS reported: Rafsanjani considers the western countries recent decisions as courting danger; he said that these countries stance toward the Islamic Republic’s nuclear dossier is hazardous and that they should not ask for trouble. He stated: “If the Security Council takes action and a preliminary decision against us is adopted, they will see just how the world and the region will be made to succumb and suffer, shortly thereafter. It is natural that many of the threats and conditions set upon the Islamic Republic will have repercussions; this offensive atmosphere is by itself unjust let alone if they decide to take action against us. There is no reason for the Islamic Republic to seek nuclear weapons and they want us not to go in this direction; then they say they’re not sure, at which point we must reply by saying that if the doors of our country is open to your inspectors it is your own fault that you are not sure…which clearly indicates your incompetence and lack of qualification within international circles. The Islamic Republic will under no circumstances forgo its inalienable right."

It is worth mentioning that only recently Ali-Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani himself publicly disclosed two letters that were in his possession that clearly divulges the Islamic regime’s absolute intention to obtain nuclear weapons. Rafsanjani who served as president of the Islamic regime from 1989to 1997, ran for president once again in the 2005 elections but lost to Ahmadinejad with whom he is known to have a bitter rivalry. The two letters were written in 1988 when he served as speaker of the Majlis (parliament) as well as commander-in-chief of the armed forces (acting on behalf of Khomeini). They are a correspondence between Revolutionary Guard Mohsen Rezai, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Khomeini himself.

In the letters Rezai requests that Khomeini endorse new weaponry so that the Islamic regime can accomplish several goals, one of which included defeating Saddam Hussein and establishing a Khomeinist regime in Baghdad, then moving onto "liberate" Jerusalem and wiping Israel off the map. Rezai asked for 300 new fighter-bombers, 2,500 tanks, 300 attack helicopters, as well as laser-guided missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Khomeini endorsed Rezai's request.

Therefore Rafsanjani’s denial of the Islamic regime’s intention to obtain nuclear weapons are considered Taqiyeh which is the duty of every faithful Muslim. It means “the disguising of the truth in order to protect the faith against its enemies of differing faiths as well as those seeking a separation of religion and state."
