Escalation of repressive measures against women in Iran

Iran Press News: In a report entitled “Striking against the Islamic regime’s exploitation in the spread of sexual apartheid”, the organization of the suffrage of women wrote:

“The Islamic Republic has implemented new measures in it’s dirty range of sexual apartheid politics within it’s organs. Akbar Abbassi-Maleki, administrative and financial deputy of the social security organization in a letter to the authorities of this organization has ordered that the new law of "male/female room segregation" be implemented as soon as possible.

This is yet again, another of the Islamic regime’s exploitations in order to spread sexual apartheid and misogyny in this society. Invasion of universities in order to force coeducational segragation is another inhumane exploitation; male/female separation of the workplace, parks and even sidewalks are among the actions of the male-chauvinistic and medieval Islamic regime.

Another invasive element is the imposition of the Islamic veil in this society and in recent weeks, the regime in yet another contemptible action has plastered posters with the slogan “Bad veiling is prostitution", all across the country.

Misogyny, the imposition of the Islamic veil in society and sexual apartheid are among the basic elements of the vile existence of the Islamic regime. Now the Islamic regime and its’ Islamist invasion of the region, attempts to spread aggression to societies and women of the Middle East.

We must strike against this aggression and the women’s suffrage movement is one of the most important and determining spheres in the defeat of the invasion of this regime. Despite all their savagry and despotism of the Islamic regime, women have never yet been terrified and intimidated by such policies and have stood tall in permenant resistance against the bloodthirsty Islamic Jihad.

But today we must go further yet. We must organize, unite to resist and confront these despotic policies. We must stand together in the work place, in the educational institutions and in society and we must be organized in defying this hostility and offensive. Recent experiences in group mobilization to confront the thugs of the “holy party” and the regiments of “Amr beh maroof va nahei az monker” (commanding the Islamic laws and warning to the violators)* has proven to be successful. We must continue expanding these actions.

The organization of the suffrage [of women] calls upon you to strike against these confederate policies; we believe that our society will never be free as long as our women are being oppressed by sexual apartheid.

* In most Muslim countries there is a special organisation to perform the duty of commanding the Islamic law and warning the violators however individuals do it and have been known to receive lenient and lesser sentences and in some cases no sentences at all.
