The gates of Persepolis closed to visitors

Iran Press News: Due to the non-receipt of their wages, the superintendents and caretakers of Takht’eh Jamsheed (Persepolis) (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6441223490216307140 a must see short film) have closed the gates to tourists and visitors.

Since last year with the changing of the management, the employee payroll was transferred from the foundation for cultural heritage and tourism of the province of Pars to a private company and it was from there where the difficulties with the salaries began.

Early in the spring the head of the cultural heritage and tourism of the province of Pars who was terminated due to legal problems told the Persepolis heritage news: "This problem is caused by a change in the management of the comptroller’s personnel and the difference aroused between the foundation for cultural heritage and tourism of the province of Fars and this private company which still continues to this day."

According to one of the superintendents of Persepolis, early in the spring with the delay in the payment of the salaries, the employees who had decided to organize a protest decided not to go through with it after the intervention of the director of the foundation who was able to arrange for the partial payment of the employee wages. But now after almost 6 months of the of non-receipt of their salaries, the employees have decided to close the gates of the Persepolis to the visitors and tourists.
