Sufi Darvish from the Gonabadi sect sentenced to prison, flogging and cash penalty

Iran Press News: Jamsheed Lack, one of the Sufi dervishes of the Gonabadi sect in the city Ghom was sentenced to 6 months in prison, 74 lashes and a $112 cash penalty.

According to the regime-run news agency ILNA, after investigating the case and hearing the Darvish’s defense, the criminal court judge of the Branch 102 of the township of Doroud found the Darvish guilty of publishing what he called lies, slander and insult [against the regime] and sentenced him.

Jamsheed Lack’s sentencing occurred after he published a criticism of the regime’s highest authorities in which he protested against the brutal physical abuse at the hands of the disciplinary guards that need to be be investigated; it is these charges that the public prosecutor of the township of Doroud called lies, slander and insults.

The primary phase of the legal defense of this Darvish was overseen by Mostafa Danjeshjoo whose own legal license has been suspended by the legal advisers center of the Islamic judiciary. As such Daneshjoo cannot represent Lack during the appeals phase.
