Increase of conflict and acrimony between Rafsanjani and Ahmadinejad’s gangs

Regime-run site Asr’eh Iran wrote: Subsequent to Hashemi Rafsanjani’s most recent remarks, during the Friday prayers regarding the seriousness of threats against the Islamic Republic, a new wave of attacks against him have begun. Mehrdad Bazrposh, former presidential advisor expressed great concern regarding this matter, in a letter to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The letter does not directly mention Hashemi Rafsanjani but it does make very clear inferences to “authorities who have the duty to invite the masses to pious gatherings, such as the Friday prayers.”

The letter reads: “Comments that unfortunately certain individuals who head up official, religious and national congregations have made that should inspire peace, piety and analyzing the Islamic world, have become a source of concern for many of the nation’s elite. Those who must keep the peace ‘injected’ into society, because they arrogantly consider themselves the sole saviors of the nation’s problems, describe our society as hysterical; as such it is unclear what their intentions are. We are concerned; concerned that such talk would derail you (Ahmadinejad) from the international arena in particular where the nuclear program is concerned. These individuals’ goals are to obstruct your holy aspirations. We are also concerned that these people will succeed in showing your administration to be incompetent. It seems that you, as the President and the second person of the country, can make a complaint against these individuals in an absolute authoritative court.”

At the same time one of the famous eulogists of the Islamic regime also criticized Hashemi Rafsanjani and accused him of creating fear among the people and exaggerating the American and international threat in general, where public opinion is concerned.
