Fifty industrial units & factories closed in the city of Ghazveen

Iran Press News: Ali Karimi, labor representative from the province of Ghazveen announced the closure of 50 industrial units and factories; the various reasons for these closures has lead to the unemployment of at least 5000 workers.

Karimi told the reporter from the regime-run news agency, ILNA: “Factories such as Ekbatan Carpet, Alamout Wood, Reza Lock, Samadian, Corograted plate, Zarian livestock, Iran sacks and pouches, Tawk honey and many more have closed for one reason or other over the last 6-7 years. Most of the workers have approximately 20 years or more work experience and are near retirement age and are now, as a result unemployed and in limbo. Factories have gone bankrupt or have closed down under the guise of restructuring; the workers did get covered by unemployment insurance for a little while but now that too has run out and they have no idea what will happen next. Hundreds of workers appear at the workers house on a daily basis asking for clarification on their issues; they plead for work so that they could have their retirement benefits.

30,000 retired workers in Ghazveen live in total deprivation

Mohammad Asadi, director of the center for retirees of the province of Ghazveen announced: “30,000 retirees and pensioners, members of our center live with the absolute bare minimum of welfare facilities. Their retirement and pensioners’ yield is far from sufficient for their expenses; the authorities ought to make up the difference and allow for inflation.”
