2008 Friday 27 JuneIsrael Suspects Syrian Reactor To Supply Fuel To IranTruthNews.com - USA Israel believes that Syriaْs secret nuclear reactor reportedly bombed by Israel last September was to be used to supply Iran with spent nuclear fuel for reprocessing into weapons-grade plutonium. The site is currently being inspected by a team from the IAEA, the UN's nuclear watchdog agency. In a report published by The Guardian (UK) on Tuesday, an adviser to Israel's national security council was quoted as saying, "The Iranians were involved in the Syrian program. The idea was that the Syrians produce plutonium and the Iranians get their share. Syria had no reprocessing facility for the spent fuel. It's not deduction alone that brings almost everyone to think that the link exists." This comes after German intelligence officers also claimed Iran was involved in the secret reactor at al-Kibar being built with North Korean help. Meantime, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad this week called for the formation of a special international tribunal to punish the world "tyrants" for their attempt to thwart Iran's nuclear program. Reacting to the European Unionْs imposition of tighter sanctions against Iranْs top financial institutions this week, Ahmadinejad told a group of judges that "a court should be formed to try and punish all world criminals who invade the rights of the Iranian nation." |
