Switzerland stops 30 exports to Iran

Swiss authorities have refused to allow 30 exports to Iran since the beginning of UN sanctions against the country in December 2006.

The Director of State Secretariat for Economic Affairs said the goods were “problematic in regard to the risk of nuclear proliferation,” adding that they were worth a total of about six million francs.

Jean-Daniel Gerber commented that it was “interesting” to note that exports to Iran remained constant between 2005 and 2009 despite the sanctions, with total annual shipments of around 800 million francs.
