(CNN) -- Despite Iranian media reports to the contrary, Swiss Ambassador Livia Leu Agosti says she was not arrested by Iranian authorities during a recent trip to the northern province of Khorasan.
Agosti told CNN Saturday that she was confronted briefly during a routine security check and was allowed to resume her trip.
Earlier Saturday, the state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported that Agosti was arrested by security forces n the village of Kalaneh-Zamaneh Thursday when they didn't recognize her. A foreign ministry official, who was not identified by the network, said Agosti was released "soon after coordinating with the relevant officials."
Agosti said media reports of the incident blew it "out of proportion."
The official said Agosti's trip had been approved by the ministry.
