Monday 09 August 2010Iran to unveil super-advanced military equipment late SeptMehr News Agency SARI, Aug. 7 (MNA) – Top Iranian commander Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan has said the army will unveil super-advanced military equipment on September 22. The “defense” against Iraq’s military invasion of Iran in the 1980s is known as the Sacred Defense. The Sacred Defense Week is held on the anniversary of the beginning of the war to honor the martyrs who died in the imposed war. Elsewhere in his remarks, Pourdastan said the U.S. military has been at an impasse due to its conflicts in the region and is currently studying escape routes or exit strategies. He pointed to the ten-year U.S. military presence in Afghanistan and said the ineffectuality of their measures just caused more U.S. casualties. All the advanced military equipment has not been able to help the U.S. win out over militancy in the region, he stated. On recent military threats against Iran, the commander said that the Islamic Republic army is staying alert and is warily monitoring foreign military movements along the national borders. Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared for any combats, he said, warning the enemies of an “instantaneous” response. For several times, Iranian military officials have warned the U.S. of the great consequences of waging war against the country under the pretext of disheartening Iran from continuing its peaceful nuclear activities. The United States and a few of its European allies claim Iran is seeking nuclear weapons. However, Iran insists that its military activities are solely for peaceful purposes. |
