TEHRAN – On Wednesday, the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) confirmed a report that three Iranian ships have been seized in the Singaporean waters.
Mohammad Hossein Dajmar, director of IRISL, told the Mehr News Agency that the seizure of the three ships is politically motivated.
However, a court in Singapore ordered that the ships be seized, claiming Iran has not paid off a loan it has received from a bank in France, Dajmar explained.
He said IRISL had taken out a loan from a French bank to purchase a ship and it has settled all the debts.
Tehran is currently negotiating with Singaporean officials and within the next two weeks the ships will return to the country, he stated
