Blogger and human rights activist Hossein Ronaghi-Maleki was able to visit his family after 6 months following his transfer to Ward 350 of Evin Prison.
RAHANA: Hossein Ronaghi’s family who live in Malekan had come to Tehran many times in order to visit him but had not been granted a prison visit due to the pressures imposed by security and judicial authorities.
According to RAHANA, Ronaghi was transferred to Ward 350 after 370 days in Ward 2A of Evin Prison.
After the disputed presidential elections, Ward 350 has become a place for holding political prisoners to the extent that near 150 prisoners of conscience are confined in there.
The Ward lacks the required facilities, is poor in sanitation and the prisoners do not receive the necessary medical attention. It has been 6 months that the phones have been disconnected in the Ward and the prison visits have been cancelled.
Ronaghi who has been imprisoned since December 13, 2009 was sentenced to 15 years in prison for membership in a proxy group, insulting the President and the Supreme Leader. His detention in solitary confinement was unlawful after the verdict was handed to him. He was eventually transferred to the General Ward after 370 days.
