Sunday 02 January 2011Iran MP: Iran will never forgive Britain’s malicious moves
Tehran Times/2011-01-02 - Top legislator Alaeddin Boroujerdi has said that the Iranian lawmakers will never forgive Britain’s malicious moves. However, cut of ties with this country requires the approval of the Majlis, he explained. The move to cut diplomatic ties with Britain is undergoing legal processes, and the final approval must be made by the Majlis, Boroujerdi told reporters in Khorramabad, Lorestan Province on Saturday. On December 19, the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee voted to completely cut relations with London. The decision was then submitted to the Majlis presiding board. Elsewhere in his remarks, Boroujerdi said Britain has played a key role in the Security Council sanctions on the Islamic Republic. Use of “Arab Gulf” instead of “Persian Gulf”, In addition, the senior MP noted that the use of the term “Arab Gulf” rather than its original and real name the Persian Gulf has been provoked by certain countries including Britain. The Foreign Ministry is responsible to pursue the matter, added Boroujerdi, who is the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee chairman. He also called on the Iranian nation to be sensitive to this issue. British ambassador’s remarks, He also described the recent remarks by British Ambassador to Tehran Simon Gass as a “new link in the chain of Britain’s malicious actions”. Simon Gass has recently written a note in his blog to mark the International Human Rights Day (December 10) in which he has accused the Islamic system of violating political and civil rights and imposing restrictions on the activities of the journalists and political activists. If Britain does not change its hostile approach toward Iran, the Iranian nation’s hatred of this country will increase. Granting Knighthood to Simon Gass, Besides, in an interview with the Fars news agency in Tehran on Saturday, Boroujerdi stated that Queen Elizabeth’s decision to grant Knighthood to Simon Gass illustrates Britain’s hostile policy toward Iran. “The mission of this ambassador in Tehran is not constructive, rather it is completely destructive,” the top lawmaker observed. Boroujerdi added, “Simon Gass has even failed to establish rational relations with the officials of the country of his mission. |
