Iranian Regime Willing to Preserve Sudan's Integrity

MEMRI, The Iranian Jomhouri-e Eslami daily attacked Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir for submitting to pressure from the West in agreeing to relinquish South Sudan in exchange for continuing to control North Sudan.

The paper said that the Sudanese people was enraged at him for doing so.

The paper stated, citing Sudanese sources, that the West's scheme was to divide Sudan into four states, not just two.

Iranian Majlis speaker Ali Larijani told the Sudanese ambassador to Tehran that Iran was willing to help Sudan preserve its territorial integrity.

He stated that the referendum was a Western plot that would harm the Islamic world, and that the Western rulers would back down for their commitments and raise obstacles before the Sudanese people.

The Sudanese ambassador expressed his thanks for the Iranian aid.
