Four Individuals Executed; One Man Hanged in Public

Iran has hanged a serial killer of women, 3 rapists in Evin Prison and one rapist in the city of Yasouj.

A prisoner by the name of Massoud A has been executed in the city of Yasouj for the crime of rape. He had been sentenced to death for rape and committing a hate crime. He was a resident of Gachsaran and had been convicted of rape with a cold weapon.

In a separate case, three prisoners were executed in Evin Prison. Ghavam Atakeshzadeh, son of Shakour, Mostafa Karimi-Khanghah, son of Mohammad, and Reza Dehghan, son of Hosseinali, had been sentenced to death for raping a teenager. In 2007, they had taken the victim to a secluded place by force using a knife and had raped the individual. The Supreme Court had upheld their death sentence.

In another case, Omid Barak, 24, was hanged in public in Karaj Square for murdering, raping and robbing 10 women. He had confessed to the murder of 10 women and his wife had also assisted him in 6 of the murders. He was declared as mentally stable by the Coroner’s Office. He was later sentenced to public execution for the crimes of rape and murder, and 3 years in prison and 74 lashes for robbing the victims.
