Iranian singer Aria Aramnejad has been sentenced to ten months in prison.
Aria Aramnejad who once sang the memorable “Ali Barkhiz” song (meaning “Rise up Ali”), has been sentenced to ten months in prison after he was accused of acting against national security and collusion for toppling the regime by publishing a song criticising state brutality during the Ashura protests on 27 December 2009.
The young artist was notified of the judiciary’s decision via telephone!
Aramnejad was arrested on February 14, 2010 after publishing his widely circulated song on YouTube and spent close to two months in solitary condiment.
