OrlandoSentinel.com, About three dozen protestors demonstrated on State Road 436 outside the Altamonte Mall this afternoon in support of demonstrators in Iran who are demanding more freedom. The Iranian demonstrations, which reignited after the revolt in Egypt, have been met with violence from the Iranian government.
"They are killing their own people in the streets," said Sanya Avazpour, an organizer with Florida for Human Rights in Iran, a group that formed about a year ago when anti-government protests started in Iran.
Daryoush Fanaian said Iranian protesters face a far more repressive and violent government than those in Egypt.
"It's not like Egypt," said Fanaian, 52, of Orlando. "Going into the streets in Iran is 50 percent surviving, 50 percent dying. They don't care about killing people in Iran."
