Saturday 26 March 2011Seddiqi Stresses Iranian Self-Sufficiency Efforts
In his sermon today, Tehran interim Friday Prayer leader Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi emphasized the efforts of Iranian officials and people for self-sufficiency in different areas, in the new Persian year, dubbed the Year of Economic Jihad. In the first Friday sermon of the year, Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi noted Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's naming of the new solar year of 1390 (March 2011-2012) as the Year of Economic Jihad. He added that implementation of this plan leads to self-sufficiency and steadfastness against the conspiracies of the enemies of the sacred Islamic system. The country's subsidies reform plan, he said, is a major plan for the appropriate distribution of national wealth, and noted that the Iranian government and nation should make every effort to make this plan effective. He also attached paramount importance to the continued progress of young Iranian scientists in different scientific areas, including peaceful nuclear knowhow and nanotechnology. Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi also referred to recent developments in North Africa, including Egypt and Tunisia, and said that the influence of Iran's Islamic Revolution on these revolutionary and popular movements was significant, He added that the conspiracies of the U.S. and Western regimes to take advantage of these movements had failed.
