Turkey-Iran Border Gate to be opened on April 16

The Kapikoy-Razi Border Gate between Turkey and Iran would be inaugurated on April 16 with a ceremony to be attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, State Ministers Hayati Yazici and Cevdet Yilmaz and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.

Governor of the eastern province of Van, Munir Karaloglu, said Thursday that Turkish citizens had to conduct illegal trade as there was no border gate along the 320 kilometers long Turkish-Iran border through which legal trade could take place.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Governor Karaloglu said that the peoples of Turkey and Iran waited for long years the opening of a border gate.

We hope that more border gates would get opened along the Turkish-Iranian border. We want to have more centers for border trade and want to erect free zones, Karaloglu added.
