Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani has voiced his country's support for the reestablishment of ties between Iran and Egypt as a move that will benefit the entire region.
"Qatar backs diplomatic relations between Egypt and Iran," the sheikh stated in a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Essam Sharaf in Doha.
All Gulf states have embassies in Tehran, he added, and Egypt's ties with Iran will benefit the countries in the region and will not do them any harm, he added.
He also said that the recent rivalry between Doha and Cairo over the rotating leadership of the Arab League did not mean there was tension between the two countries.
