Ahmadinejad budget approved with less than 50% of votes

After a 5-month delay, Iran’s parliament approved Ahmadinejad’s budget by less than 50% of the votes which followed a month of verbal abuse, attacks, and physical brawls and scuffles by the parliament members.

According to state-run Fars news agency, the budget was passed by 144 votes, which is less than half of the total votes.

In inconsistent statements, Fars news agency which is associated with the Revolutionary Guards said: Of the total of 207 members present to vote for this year’s budget, 144 voted “yes”, 29 voted “no”, and 12 members abstained. This is while the total number of announced votes is 185 which indicates that in addition to 83 parliament members who did not come to vote, 22 other members who were present also refused to vote.
