Iran, under U.S. sanctions for its nuclear program, is considering its own actions against U.S. officials over human rights, state media said Saturday.
The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis, Iran's parliament, will meet Sunday to discuss the move, the official Press TV and Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
Committee Chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi earlier said Iran is preparing a lawsuit against U.S. officials deemed responsible for violations such as torture and illegal detention, and the government is setting up an English-language "Human Rights News Agency" to monitor the United States and Britain.
In May, Amnesty International condemned indefinite detentions at U.S. bases in Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, along with capital punishment.
In October, the U.N. Human Rights Council issued a report on alleged U.S. rights violations including torture and police brutality targeting African-Americans, Muslims and immigrants.
