A man is scheduled to be hanged in public in Ghazvin

Iran Human Rights: A men is scheduled to be hanged in public in the city of Ghazvin, west of Tehran.

According to the state run Bornanews agency, a man identified as Mehdi (37), is scheduled to be hanged on the Isfahan-Iran Gaz Street of Ghazvin, Thursday morning May 26th. The public hanging is going to take place at 7 AM, said the report.

The man is convicted of murdering five women and stealing their jewelries in the time period between May 2009 and March 2010, in Ghazvin area. According to this report, Mehdi was sentenced to five times retribution (hanging), imprisonment and flogging in August/September 2010. The sentence was later approved by the Supreme Court.

Since the beginning of May at least 40 people have been executed in Iran.Mehdi’s execution will be the 8th public execution in this month.
