An article in the conservative Iranian daily Ebtekar questioned the usefulness of the policy of "facing East" adopted by the Iranian regime.
The daily claimed that growing close to China did not prevent it from supporting anti-Iran sanctions in the U.N. Security Council, or its submission to American demands to delay projects in Iran's gas industry.
The article also claimed that China shares the American and European position in the IAEA report, which raises concerns that Iran is striving to develop nuclear weapons, and is willing to increase sanctions on Iran in return for American incentives, such as a supply of oil from Saudi Arabia.
