Concern over Ahmad Zeidabadi’s condition

Ahmad Zeidabadi is an activist, journalist, and the secretary general of the Tahkim-e Vahdat office. He has been held in prison for the past two years without furlough. His family members reported that when they visited him in Rajai Shahr ‘Gohardasht’ prison on June 23rd, his physical condition was serious.

According to sources, following the visit, a family members said, “Over the past three weeks, he appears to have lost ten kilograms of weight. This is a serious concern.”

The family member added, “Certainly the deaths of the late Ezzatollah Sahabi, Haleh Sahabi, and Hoda Saber, losses which are hard to bear in prison, are responsible for Ahmad Zeidabadi’s current condition. When we asked him why he had grown so thin, he replied, ‘I do not have any problems…I have taken all sorts of medical tests…they say I am OK…’”

Ahmad Zeidabadi was arrested in June 2009. The Revolutionary Court sentenced him to the heavy and inhumane sentence of six years in prison, five years of exile, and lifelong deprivation from: political activities, participation and support of parties, giving interviews, and presenting speeches and oral or written analyses. The Appeals Court has upheld the sentence.
