Dissident blogger and writer Mahdi Khazali has been detained by security forces, according to a Green Movement sources.
According to opposition website Tahavolesabz, Khazali, who also happens to be the son of conservative member of the Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Abolghasem Khazali, was arrested by Intelligence Ministry forces on Monday afternoon and was subsequently taken to an unknown location.
Khazali had been summoned by phone by his interrogator and was to meet ministry agents at a rendezvous point of their choosing.
Since the fraudulent presidential election of June 2009, Khazali, also a medical doctor, has been a constant critic of the Iranian regime and his widely read blog has served as a platform for pro-Green Movement sentiments.
This is Khazali’s third arrest for his outspoken views and interviews with foreign media since the 2009 election coup.
His critical remarks have earned him disqualification from parliamentary elections as well as a public exchange of rhetoric with his highly conservative father who has denounced his son’s positions in the past two years.
