In a meeting in Tehran with the Syrian Oil Minister, Sufian Allaw, on July 24, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi called on Muslim countries to strengthen Syria.
Rahimi promised that Tehran would unconditionally stand by its ally Syria, and that the two are inseparable. The Syrian minister said that President Assad enjoys popular support, and intends to transform Syria into a new country.
He added that the problems in Syria are not substantial, and stem from protester ties to foreign elements.
