Top Iranian legislator, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, has said that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not respond to nuclear demands which go beyond the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee made the remarks in response to IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano, who has recently claimed that Iran does not fully cooperate with the IAEA.
According to UPI, Amano, during the 23rd UN Conference on Disarmament Issues in Japan, has said that Iran was not cooperating with IAEA officials in providing “credible assurance about the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities” and assurance that nuclear material in Iran was used for peaceful purposes.
“Iran attaches no importance to such behavior,” Boroujerdi said.
“The Unites States is pressuring the agency to achieve its goals, and the IAEA director is willing to pass the pressures on to Iran,” he said.
He went on to say, “Obviously, Iran will not give in to moves that go beyond the agency’s regulations and are in line with U.S. policies.”
Iran has always cooperated with the IAEA as confirmed by the UN nuclear watchdog’s previous reports, he added.
