Friday 02 September 2011Seddighi: Egypt Has Joined the Anti-Hegemonic Front
In his sermon today, Tehran's interim Friday Prayer Leader Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddighi said that Muslim nations have joined the anti-hegemonic front with anti-U.S. and anti-Zionist slogans, and are pursuing Islamic ideals. Seddighi said that the demonstrations in Egypt in front of the Zionist regime embassy in Cairo and the anti-U.S. and anti-Zionist slogans used there are indicative of the growing anti-hegemonic front. He praised the massive turnout in Iran and other Islamic countries on World Qods Day and said that the Egyptian people held rallies on World Qods Day for the first time after the collapse of the Mubarak regime and changed anti-Israel slogans. Seddighi said: "World Qods Day is the day of Islam. This year's World Qods Day was different... as the Egyptian people, for the first time ever, joined the Iranian nation in chanting 'Down with Israel' in the rallies." Seddighi also spoke of the sanctions imposed on Iran and said: "The world rose to confront the Iranian nation through military war, fifth column, and soft war, but our nation has emerged elated, and now they want to break us through sanctions." He added that the sanctions have failed and that the Iranian nation has emerged proud and victorious. Seddighi also expressed regret over the problems of drought and famine in Somalia and called on Iranians to continue their philanthropic help to the famine-stricken Somali people.
