In a speech to the Assembly of Experts, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that Sunni Arabs do not accept Iran’s principle of the Rule of the Jurisprudent (velayat-e faqih) and therefore Iran must instill its Islamic system among Arab Spring nations with the concept of “religious democracy.”
Khamenei called on the religious elites in the Middle East to take the reins of leadership and establish an “Islamic democracy” in the spirit of the vision of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Iran, as a successful model to run Islamic society.
