Iran Hajj pilgrims injured in car accident

The incident took place at around 9:30 p.m. local time (1830 GMT) on Saturday when the bus driver taking Iranian pilgrims from the Red Sea coastal city of Jeddah to the holy city of Medina fell asleep and the vehicle rammed into the front car, ISNA reported.

The bus driver died on the spot while eight Iranian pilgrims sustained injuries in the traffic mishap.

The victims were taken to Medina's King Fahad Hospital to receive medical treatment. Five Iranians were treated in the hospital for their slight injuries and later dismissed, while the remaining three had to be hospitalized due to leg fractures.

The development comes on the same day as 31 Pakistani Hajj pilgrims were injured when their bus had an accident on the way from the holy city of Mecca to Medina.

The wounded Pakistani nationals were admitted to local hospitals, and their condition is said to be stable.
