Tehran Rejects US Court's Allegations

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Sunday categorically rejected a claim newly raised by a US court that tried to link Tehran with terrorist bombings in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.

Last week the Weekly Standard magazine reported that a Washington district court has alleged that both Iran and Sudan were culpable for the al-Qaeda's 1998 embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania.

In Reply, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said in a statement that "the baseless accusation is another scenario designed by the US administration against Iran".

The statement pointed to the martyrdom of 9 Iranian diplomats in Afghanistan in 1998, and noted that the US is seeking to cover up its and the Zionist regime of Israel's failures in the region through raising cheap scenarios against the Iranian nation and government.

The new claims came two months after FBI and DEA agents made similar baseless claims without presenting any proof, alleging that they have disrupted an Iranian plot to commit a "significant terrorist act in the United States".

The US officials claimed that the plot included the assassination of the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States, Adel Al-Jubeir, with a bomb and subsequent bomb attacks on the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Washington, D.C. Bombings of the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were also discussed, according to the US officials.

Later, Iran dismissed the US allegations as a prefabricated scenario which is totally unfounded.
