Iran third largest oil supplier to China

Iran is the second major oil exporter of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries after Saudi Arabia.
Iran has exported about 622,000 barrels of oil per day to China in November, maintaining its place as the third largest crude supplier to the East Asian country, a report says.

According to the Chinese General Administration of Customs (GAC), the figure indicates a 5.3 percent growth over the corresponding number for the previous year.

China's oil imports in November reached 5.55 million barrels per day (bpd), which reflects an 8.5 percent increase compared to the same period a year earlier, the report added.

Saudi Arabia remains the largest oil supplier to China, exporting 1.18 million bpd, up 32.3 percent, followed by Angola with 748,000 bpd, up 2.7 percent.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's oil exports to China fell by 23.7 percent in November compared with the previous year and reached about 178,000 bpd.

Earlier in August, GAC reported that China's crude oil imports from the Islamic Republic have witnessed a 46 percent growth in the first seven months of 2011.

Iran's total crude exports to China rose by 46.73 percent from January to July 2011 compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, the report added.

Iran holds the world's third largest oil reserves and is the second major oil exporter among the members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
