Hossein R. Maleki interrogated at Evin prison’s court

Ronaghi recently wrote a letter from prison criticizing president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Human Rights House of Iran reports that this is the second time this month that Ronaghi Maleki has been transferred to the prosecutor’s office in this prison. He has been put under great pressure and subjected to severe duress along with threats that his court dossier could be opened again.

Recently Hossein and 2 other prisoners, Sima Nourani and Mehdi Khodai who are now being kept in Evin’s public ward 350 were subjected to further interrogations at Evin prison’s court.

Also in the past month interrogating officers from the Ministry of Intelligence put intense pressure on Hossein Ronaghi Maleki to make false televised confessions and recite what they wanted him to say.

Hossein Ronaghi Maleki who has never been allowed his legal right to furlough since his incarceration on December 13, 2009, has been told his temporary release is contingent on his willingness to make a false confession.

Interrogating agents stated that the reason Hossein was handed down the heavy 15-year prison sentence was his lack of cooperation with them in the aftermath of his detainment.

Judge Pir-Abassi residing over Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court sentenced Hossein Ronaghi Maleki to 15 years behind bars. This sentence was later upheld at the appellate court.

Last week even though the Tehran Prosecutor ordered medical furlough for this imprisoned blogger, Judge Pir-Abassi and the head of his office opposed this order and blocked the action.

Hossein Ronaghi’s health has been dangerously declining due to his kidney disease and doctors have consistently stated that it is imperative that he is temporarily released for medical care and recovery. Hossein has been transferred to the hospital four times during his prison term and suffers from intense pain stemming from his deteriorating kidney ailment.
