Ahmadinejad: Zionist regime evil, world can't save it

Ynetnews -- "The Zionist regime is an evil and inhumane creature that will massacre all regional nations if it is given the opportunity,” an Iranian news agency quoted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying Sunday.

According to IRNA's report, Ahmadinejad said during a meeting with visiting Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghusn that "the goal of arrogant powers is to save the Zionist regime, but they will certainly not fulfill this wish of theirs, because the world has changed and their era has come to an end."

IRNA stated that the Lebanese defense minister "hailed the resistance of the Iranian nation against Israeli aggressions" and declared that "Tel Aviv will think twice before attempting an invasion anywhere in the world for fear of the Islamic Republic."

Earlier Sunday, Iranian Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi told his Lebanese counterpart it isTehran's strategic policy to strengthen the Lebanese army.

Iran is a key supporter of the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah. Tehran denies arming the Shiite movement, but is believed to funnel it weapons and millions of dollars in funding.

Ghosn is a member of Marada, a Christian party allied with Hezbollah. Both groups are close to Syria's embattled President Bashar Assad, who is traditionally a major power-broker in Lebanon but faces an uprising against his rule.

Tehran may be trying to strengthen its independent ties in Lebanon if Assad falls.
