Judiciary broods over blinding man in brutal punishment

Freedom Messenger -- The Legal Medicine office announced its answer regarding a request from the Tehran Penal Court over the retribution of the man who attacked Farzad Forouzesh [a mullah who was attacked by a man for harassing a woman. Forouzesh lost his eyesight in the process].

According to the opinion of the Legal Medicine Office, the eyes of the attacker are completely healthy and the retribution sentence [blinding] can be carried out.

But questions remain in the opinion because given that Forouzesh’s eyes were not blinded 100 percent, there is a possibility that when the sentence is carried out, the attacker’s eye cannot be equally blinded [for example he might lose more of his eyesight].

It has to be seen what the judge will rule in light of the complainant’s request [for retribution]. (Fars state-run News Agency)
