Brazilian President General U.s. Sanctions on Iran

In the presence of Barack Obama, Rousseff says U.S. sanctions will be bad.President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff criticizes U.S. sanctions on Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons production country. In addition, Rousseff also complained about U.S. economic policy is considered detrimental to other countries.

He said the new sanctions in January this year, supported by U.S. allies will only cause turmoil in the Middle East. This can affect world oil prices, which could potentially disrupt global economic recovery.

In addition, Brazil’s first woman president also criticized U.S. sanctions against Syria which he said only provoke more severe armed conflict.

Rousseff stance is in line with the commitment of the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) who reject the U.S. intervention in Iran and Syria. At a meeting in New Delhi last month, saying the BRICs will not stop cooperation with Tehran.

They insisted, relations with Iran should be kept in the middle of the BRICs efforts in advancing the country’s economy.

Detriment of the U.S. Other Countries

In addition to criticizing the sanctions on Iran, Rousseff also touched on U.S. economic policy which was considered detrimental to them. Among these are U.S. interest rates low and expansionist policies that lead to global liquidity.

“Monetary policy ekpansionis West has led to the depreciation of currencies in the developed world, and undermine economic growth plans in developing countries,” said Rousseff.

Despite criticism throws, but Rousseff welcomed U.S. investment plans in Brazil, especially towards the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics. Obama hopes that growing Brazilian market can be exploited U.S. companies to open up more jobs.

Both heads of state at the meeting also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase cooperation in the field of aviation. This MoU was agreed following a Boeing plans to open a research center and technology in the State of Samba.
