PDN - The legendary maestro of Persian classical music, Hassan Kasaii, was buried secretly at night. He passed away Tuesday, 14 June 2012 at the age of 84 in the Persian city of Isfahan.
According to HRANA News Agency the Iranian security forces prevented the family from organizing an official funeral. He was secretly buried Friday at 4:00 AM.
The website of Persian Music House quoted the son of maestro Kasaii saying this was due to "special circustances" in Iran.
Since huge pro-democracy demonstrations in Persia in 2009, the Iranian government has prevented many funeral ceremonies of famous figures.
Hassan Kasaii (1924-2012) was an iconic master of the Persian traditional instrument the ney. During his long career he performed in domestic and international festivals and his music has been released internationaly.
