"We won't see military action against Iran in 2012; there's still time," Kadima Chairman Shaul Mofaz said Tuesday.
Speaking at a conference held at the Ono Academic College, Mofaz commented on the verbal blows exchanged between Jerusalem and Washington over the disputed urgency of the Iranian issue.
"There is no need for us to sacrifice the most important strategic partnership we have over the Iranian issue," he said. "It's up to Netanyahu to defeat Ahmadinejad, not Obama."
Israel's conduct on the issue is irresponsible, he added, saying that "The prime minister has his hands too deep in the American ballots. He's leading the Iranian campaign out of political motives, to change the agenda. That is not how you lead a strategic campaign."
According to Kadima's chairman, "Israel has very good (military) abilities, but they might lead to a regional conflict."
Stepping away from the Iranian issue, Mofaz urged Tzipi Livni to return to the party as his No.2, saying that "The unity of Kadima is very important, especially near election time."
