Ahmadinejad slammed for giving major post to son-in-law

Shahrzadnews:President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been strongly criticised by Iranian MPs for giving his son-in-law an important position. When Mehdi Khorshidi was quietly appointed as general director of the Firoozabadi Hospital in the city of Ray, several parliamentarians called for his immediate dismissal, saying he lacks qualifications.

It is not the first time that Khorshidi’s father-in-law has given him a major government appointment. Earlier he was put on the powerful Expediency Council, which acts as an arbiter between Iran’s many power bases, and in 2011 he was made head of the Standards Organisation, though on that occasion 24 MPs had him removed.

His latest appointment has drawn fierce opposition from various political factions, who argue that the numerous problems faced by the Firoozabadi Hospital can only be solved by a team of managers who have substantial work experience in the country’s health organisations. Khorshidi only graduated from a Tehran university two years ago.
