Mofaz to Bibi: Are you afraid of Iran or US?

Opposition Chairman Shaul Mofaz continued making harsh accusations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday in the backdrop of deteriorating relations between Israel and the US. "Who are you more afraid of prime minister? Ahmadinejad or Obama?" he asked in a special Knesset recess debate.

"Israel is not the problem. You are the problem, Mr. prime minister," Mofaz said. "You are the one that no one believes, it's your judgment that troubles them and you are the one being set red lines.

"Please explain to us, who is the greater enemy – the United States or Iran? Whose regime are you aiming to replace? The one in Washington or Tehran?"

Addressing a possible strike in Iran, Mofaz said, "Never in all of the State of Israel's years of existence, had the drums of war beat so hard as today."

The Kadima chairman also criticized the recent cabinet leaks. Addressing Netanyahu directly, he said: "Are you willing to undergo a formal Shin Bet test and answer just two questions: did you intentionally leak sensitive and classified materials in order to increase public support for military action? And did you relay information to unauthorized persons?"

Mofaz further charged that "wars are waged only when there is no other choice.

"One knows how they start but not how they will end. Since you know all of this, I ask you – where is your judgment? What is the strategy? Where has hope gone? Silent power? Confidence?"

The opposition chairman stated that the Netanyahu government had "turned the Iranian threat from a global threat to a local threat, from a threat on mankind to a threat on the Jewish people in Israel.

"Mr. prime minister, our policy has played into the hands of the ayatollah and reinforced the foundation of their regime."
