Poll: Israelis say high chance of Iran war

JERUSALEM, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Most Israelis asked say the outbreak of war with Iran is highly possible, while half fear for the existence of Israel if that happens, a poll has found.

Only a minority of those questioned were confident about Israel's future if a conflict did occur, Haaretz reported Thursday.

The Haaretz-Dialog survey indicated a majority of those polled rated as "high" or "medium" the chance that Israel will become engaged in a war with Iran. Half of the people in the survey said they either "fear" or "greatly fear" for the survival of Israel if war did break out.

A quarter of those asked said they didn't fear for the state's future should a conflict with Iran occur.

Such a question hadn't been asked in previous Haaretz-Dialog surveys.

Haaretz didn't detail exact percentages of how the questions were answered, nor did it state the number of people surveyed. A margin of error wasn't given.

The survey was conducted at the beginning of the week and was supervised by Tel Aviv University statistician Camil Fuchs.
