Labor activist Hadi Daneshyar handed a 3-year prison sentence

Committee of Human Rights Reporters – Seyed Hadi Daneshyar, labor activist from Shiraz was sentenced to three years in prison.

According to news obtained by CHRR, on Sunday November 18th, the Shiraz Revolutionary Court sentenced seyed Hadi Daneshyar to 3 years imprisonment on charges of propaganda against the regime for the benefit of anti-regime groups, and attending illegal gatherings. The court has allowed Daneshyar 20 days to lodge an appeal against this sentence at the appellate court.

Seyed Hadi Daneshyar is a 38-year old labor activist from Shiraz who was arrested in 2008 during the miners’ strike at the province. He was subjected to 2 months of interrogations at the Intelligence Ministry detention center and Adel Abad prison before being granted temporary release on bail. He had been detained earlier that year and handed a 2-year sentence on the charge of endangering national security by inciting miners’ riots.
