Shahrzadnews: According to the Ghanoon website, illegal narcotics are widely used by young Iranians, and addiction is on the increase among female university students.

“The use of Shisha and ecstasy among university students is on the rise, particularly in medical schools. In one girls’ dormitory in Tehran students take it openly after ten in the evening.”

An unidentified drug squad official told Ghanoon that the number of female addicts in the capital has increased, and that over 60% of Tehran University’s female students are heavy cigarette smokers.

The report added that in the country as a whole, 45% of smokers are under 29, and a further 30% in their thirties.
