Responses to Human Rights Violation in Iran 1. On Saturday, 23rd of February 2013, Members of the International Organisation to Perserve Human Rights in Iran, demonstrated against the imprisonment of lawyers in Iranian prisons, such as Nasrin Sotoodeh and the dervishs lawyers. This protest took place in the city of Lahe, in Holland. The protest demanded the immediate release of the Lawyers of the political prisoners and people who have been imprisoned because of their beliefs. 2. On Tuesday, 26th of February, more than one hundred residents of the city of Sarakhs gathered in front of Ali Khamenei’s office in Tehran. These protesters were farmers and ranchers from villages around the city of Sarakhs. They protested on the ‘Felestine Jonoubi’ street, against the decisions made by the Aastaane Ghodse Razavi organisation. 3. During the past week, a group of lawyers, in protest to the Attorney General Bill, have published a statement requesting the Islamic Judiciary system of Iran to withdraw the bill and respect the international standards regarding the independence of Lawyers, granting the right to defend another human being and to have a fair hearing in court for every one. 4. On Sunday, 24th of February 2013 Rahim Elyasi, who goes by the nickname of “Shahram”, has gone on a hunger strike in Rajayi-shahr prison in the city of Karaj. He has been accused of creating propaganda against National Security. 5. A letter of requests written by political prisoners of Rajayi-shahr Prison in the city of Karaj, which was addressed to the general secretary of the UN commissioner for human rights, has now been published. The letter refers to the cases of violations of human rights in prisons by the Iranian regime, and states that stoning, lashing, torture and execution by hanging is against the law. They are requesting that the International bodies create a committee to investigate the human rights violations in the Prisons of Iran, as the Iranian regime has signed the agreement to obey the universal declaration of human rights. 2. Masoud Sadeghi, a supporter of Iran’s Freedom Movement, who was arrested before on charges of organizing a group called History Studies, has been arrested again on Saturday 23rd of February and sentenced to six years imprisonment in section 350 of Evin Prison. 3. On 25th of February Ahmad Ali Khaza-ee the prosecutor of Behbahan Revolutionary Court announced that a prisoner who was charged with drug trafficking has been executed inside the prison after the approval of the Supreme Court. 4. On 24th of February Three prisoners in Choobin Prison in the city of Ghasvin, who were accused of drug trafficking, were executed in prison after the approval of the Judiciary system of Ghazvin. 5. On 23rd of February Seyed Hamid Sadr Ghobadi’ who works in the Evin Prison Office, was arrested by the security forces when leaving work. No information has been stated about the location and the condition of Mr Sadr Ghobadi. According to the news, 5 arrestees who political and civil activists were named Salar Toori, Ali Shirnak, Mohammad Amiri, Mohammad Khatibi and Adel Khandani were transferred to the custody of the Tabriz intelligence office. 7. On Sunday 24th of February Mir Taher Mousavi, a University lecturer and a member of Mir Hosein Mousavi’s campaign in the 2009 election, was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment in Baluchestan and 10 years of exile in the same county, and issued by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court by the Judge Pir Abbasi. This sentence has been issued to Mr Mousavi after seven and half months of being in solitary confinement and under ongoing interrogation. 8 . On Thursday the 21st of February the wife of Lawyer Mr Mohammad Seyf Zade, in confirmation of her husband’s prison sentence has said the following: “On 26th of March the Eve of the Iraininan New Year, while we were waiting for the end of my husbands sentence and expected him to return home, we learnt that they voted against his release and unfortunately he was sentenced to 6 more years in prison. 9. Mr Rahmatullah Maadi and Mr Behroz Ghobadi, the brother of Bahman Ghobadi who is a Film Director, was arrested in the city of Sanandaj in November 2012. Mr Behroz Ghobadi was released a few weeks after being arrested, however Mr Rahmatollah Maadi has been inside Evin prison ever since. The brother of Mr Rahmatullah Maadi said: “If we knew the kind of crime he has committed, we would be able to get a lawyer for him”. 10- On Wednesday the 27th February two prisoners who were accused of drug smuggling have been executed in Sari Central prison. The sentence was carried out in the presence of the main prosecutor in the Sari Prison. 11. On the morning of Thursday 28th of February, A prisoner from the city of Torbat-Jam who was accused of drug smuggling was hanged in the city of Semnan 2. A Baha’i Student, Panid Fazl-ali, who is a student of Science and Industry at the University of Tehran, was expelled from the university on 23rd of February, regardless of him already having passed 89 modules. 3. Early morning on Wednesday the 27th of February the Security forces entered the private property of Mr Mohammad Chegini who is a Gonabadi Dervish living in the city of Karaj. The security forces searched his house, and then confiscated his personal belongings such as his computer, books and CD’s. 4. Pastor Jamal, an Iranian American citizen who was arrested in Kurdestan in 2011, having been accused of spying for Iran and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment is currently in one of the prisons in Kurdistan. Recently a Christian group has traveled to Erbil in order to release him. 5- On Thursday the 21st of February, a number of Gonabadi sufi’s protested in front of Evin prison against the transfer of a number of imprisoned Darvishes into solitary confinement. The Police ended up arresting the protestors for a few hours. The protesting Darvishes demanded an explination as to why the innocent Darvishes had been imprisoned and failing an answer put them selves up for arrest. 2- Payam Shakiba a political science student who was studying for his master’s degree at the Azad University of Iran was informed last week by letter that he is banned from continuing his studies. This has been the common case for most student activists in the past few years. 3- On Wednesday the 27th of February According to a new notification from the higher ranks of government, Dr Mohammad Zamiran and Dr Ehsan shariati have been banned from teaching at university with out any given reason. 2-The workers of the Contracting Company called Raneh Dej have not received any salary for the last year. 3- Mr Seyed Mosa Mirjahan-mardi, secretary of the workers in Booshehr, south of Iran reported that; “about 1500 of the workers of Sadra company have not received their salaries since November 2012. 4-On Tuesday the 26th of February, 180 retired workers of the Metal Industrial group in Tehran, gathered in front of the Governor of Tehran’s house to claim their unpaid pension. 2. Hassan Sadeghi Khoram Dashti, his wife Fatemeh Mosan-na and his 17 year old son Nima Sadeghi were arrested inside their own home on Monday the 29th of January, and since then they have been unable to make any phone calls to their relatives.The reason of their arrest was for arranging the funeral of Hossein Sadeghi Khoram Dashti’s grand father. 3. After 7 months there is still no information regarding the situation of 2 Salmas citizens, Habib and Azad Atmani., who were arrested by the intelligence officers on a charge of acting against the national security. 4. On Monday the 18th of February, Samko Khel-ghati, a 32 year old Kurdish political prisoner from Mahabad, who is in the number 12 Hall of the Rajani-share prison in the city of Karaj, was transferred to an unknown location. He’s been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for acting against the national security. 5. Gholamreza Khosravi, a political prisoner who is in section 350 of the Evin prison, has been banned from any visitors for over 6 months. This is because of his protest within the prison. 6. Amir Taleb-Marham a Kurdish political prisoner, who is now in the central prison of Zahedan, is on Hunger strike because the prison authorities have ignored his case to be released. Amire Taleb-Mahram was arrested for speaking to TV channels outside of Iran. 7. On Saturday, the 23rd Feb 2013, police and plainclothes security forces forcefully entered the residence of Saaleh Agha-jani, Shafigh Aghajani, Davood Jahan-girzadeh and Iraj Iyvari from the village of Broosh-kharaan in Salmas County. They were accused of cooperating with the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK). During their search of the premises the security forces attacked and assaulted the residents. 8. According to news received, the Revolutionary Court has sentenced Ahmed Danesh-pour Moghdam, prisoner of section 350 of Evin prison to death. His health has been deteriorating and he is currently in a critical condition due to internal bleeding in his colon, however, he has been denied any hospital treatment. 9. Political activist Mohsen Qashqa-eizadeh who was arrested for being a member of the Saraye ahle Ghalam , will be on trial on Tuesday 9th April in Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. 10- On Wednesday the 28th February, a 60 year old political prisoner, Mr Asgar Mahmoudyan, who was arrested in January 2010, was moved from Evin prison to another prison in the city of Semnan. 11-The deputy head of the ministry of culture in Tehran, stated that the teaching of yoga should be prohibited as it’s a false form of eastern mysticism. 12- The inspector of the public buildings in the city of Bukan has banned all musical concerts and celebrations during the upcoming Iranian New Year. 13- Mr Saiid Mortasavi, the ex- chief prosecutor of Tehran who alongside three others has been accused of the crimes that took place in Kahrizak prison during the 2009 election, has been charged by the Tehran court for being involved in the murder of Mr Mohammad Kamrani who died in Kahrizak prison. 14- According to Mr Mohammad Nuryzads’ website he has been called to appear at court on the 9th of March in response to his recent articles.
